چکیده
The purpose of this paper is to present a detailed and unified analysis word stress in Najdi Arabic (NA), variety spoken Najd, located the central region Saudi Arabia. Regular stress, seemingly exceptional cases, also variations within NA itself are all accounted for simple straightforward manner. proposed based on two principles. First, unlike previous studies that employ three-way weight distinction between light, heavy, superheavy syllables, binary light (monomoraic) C(C)v; heavy (bimoraic) C(C)vX(C) proposed, where “X” either vowel or consonant. Second, word-final consonants crucially assumed be “extrasyllabic”. algorithm constrained so may fall one last three syllables word, as follows: Stress rightmost syllable if only it word’s syllables; otherwise antepenultimate (initial disyllabic words). Variations cases by fact assignment applies earlier derivation before application any other phonological processes subsequently alter shape word.

Syllables and Moras in Arabic
Some of the most salient differences among Arabic vernaculars have to do with syllable structure. This study focuses on the syllabification patterns of three dialect groups, (1) VC-dialects, (2) C-dialects, and (3) CV-dialects,1 and argues that they differ in the licencing of SEMISYLLABLES, moras unaffiliated with syllables and adjoined to higher prosodic constituents. This study examines the intonational patterns of Yes/No questions in Urban Najdi Arabic. Although it is a widely spoken dialect, intonation in Urban Najdi Arabi...
متن کاملVowel-Epenthesis Patterns in Loanword Adaptation of Initial sC Clusters in Najdi Arabic
In this study, I investigate vowel epenthesis that arises in loanword adaptation in Najdi Arabic (NA), an Arabic dialect spoken in the middle region of Saudi Arabia. In addition, I present experimental data from NA, to advocate for the perception-based analysis of loanword adaptation, an approach early adopted by Fleishacker (2002). Based on acoustic and perceptual evidence, Fleishacker has fou...
